Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble announced as the 2012 Chorus America/ASCAP
Adventurous Programming Award winner!

Thrilling News! Chorus America and ASCAP announced on May 3, 2012, that the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble received the 2012 Adventurous Programming Award. In a letter addressed to Music Director Linda Raney, Chorus America Chairman Gayle Ober and President & CEO Ann Meier Baker stated, “The selection panel unanimously agreed that the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble’s programming in the 2010-2011 season reflected not only a commitment to the music of our time, but a daring and ambitious spirit in its presentation, especially as you seek to broaden the repertoire for women’s voices.”

The Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble is honored to receive this prestigious award, and is distinctly proud of their dedication to the mission of commissioning and performing new music, shown by their impressive list of 29 new choral works for women’s voices. The 2012 Adventurous Programming Award was presented at the Chorus America Conference in Minneapolis, MN, on June 15, 2012. Dr. Raney proudly accepted the award on behalf of Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble.

With the December concert season, the Santa Fe Women's Ensemble celebrates its 33rd year. 

In anticipation of a fall concert tour in Spain, these concerts will feature pieces by such famous Spanish composers as Pablo Casals and Tomas Luis de Victoria, a medieval chant from the Montserrat monastery in Catalonia and several Spanish favorites. The Ensemble will also present two widely contrasting musical styles of Mass, one by Francesco Durante and the Shona Mass from Zimbabwe.
